DROVAK

DROVAKS

She wrote a brief note, intended for the rescue party, which she stuck between two switches of the chart console, in plain view. Then she left the cabin. The weather had greatly improved. She fixed on the horizon, facing the sun, facing East, turned toward the forbidden territories. She called the Drovak to her and clung to the machine to relieve her wounded leg.

Then they started to walk towards the newborn light.

Embedded in small numbers in the original colonizer ships, which help the settlers in their arduous or hazardous task. The Drovaks were designed in multiple versions for civil or military use.

The DROVAKS are strong machines that have special abilities and work well for manual laborers.
They are able to manipulate tools to perform all kinds of task and they can work longer than a man, but they are in many cases also less precise and less skilled.

Humanoid morphology allows them to understand commands, visual recognition, among other things and operating machines designed for human operators

Drovaks accompany the men, exoskeletons, and walkers. They often wear clothing to protect their mechanical parts from premature wear.

The militarized Drovaks make up the main body of the Sons. They gather around a soldier/operator who is their guide and controller. They are not capable of much initiative and have been proved to be easily deceived.

Fly Bike

SHARKNOSE
Assault flying-bike gun-ship

The deadening howl of a flying motorcycle in approach could be heard, ridden by a Drovak covered in greasy stains. The mechanical humanoid adroitly operated the contraption. He finishes his descent stabilizing a short second some feet above the ground, the powerful jet of the thrusters tearing clods of earth up and charring the grass. Then agilely he landed on the ground, to the strident background noise of a turbine under maximum power.

This is our first contact with the awesome Sharknose as well as the Android Drovak
From the short story "Duel".

The Sharknose bike was design as an assault vehicle able to carry a lot of fire power over a short distance.

It uses a small turbojet with an impressive weight/power ratio, but with a reduced life span. The air intake is in front in the "shark's nose" and the exhaust is in the bottom just below the pilot.  The movement of the pilots body from left to right as well as up and down controls what direction the bike moves, and the throttles are located at both feet. Two huge tanks are fixed on each side of the bike, giving it a maximum flight distance of 200 miles.

Tactical use:
The bike is brought close to the assault taget, fueled and armed awaiting the start of the assault. Its engine can turn slowly to spare fuel and so remaining ready to fly.
The Sharknose can cover many miles at a high speed or move low in a  field by small successive jumps, hiding itself on the ground with the engine at its lowest speed.
Its crew is one single pilot, but in battle it was often use to carry a wounded man or two assault troops in place of its heavy armament.
A full robot sharknose version was also developed, with a non-android robot device in place of the pilot seat.

The Sharknose and variants in 28mm are in the Design and drawing stage. Post will be made as progress is made.

Border Wars

The newborn sun began to rise from the rocky horizon, illuminating the sky, scattered with a few cloudy traces. The stones finally warmed up with the contact of this powerful radiation. Vena had regained part of her strength. She caught a radio message that was destined for her, informing her of the arrival of a rescue patrol within some hours. She hesitated to answer then finally abstained. In the silence, the Drovak tried to connect with the base, but Vena cut the connection.

Introduction

A handful of men and women roaming in the cosmos discover Alterra, a world astoundingly welcoming. They settle in the most favorable part of this unique continent.
So as not to put the biologic balance of Alterra in peril they have forbidden colonization the other territories. However after many decades as the population grew increasing numbers of clandestine emigrants have ignored this ruling and the borders are finally closed by the military. 20 years has past and here is where we begin.
